Charity of the Season
Each year we focus on three non-profits for our "Charity of the Season".
RJWC members are introduced to the organization, its mission, and then are encouraged to donate items that have been requested.
OUR SPRING CHARITY OF THE SEASON IS:
Constance Morris House is a domestic violence shelter that is part of the broader Pillars Community Health organization. According to their website, Constance Morris House is "dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our shelter offers modern, secure, and comfortable accommodations designed to support individuals and families on their journey to healing and empowerment."
As part of this empowerment, our goal is to provide reading material to families – in particular children and adolescents – who are living at, or passing through, the shelter. Due to a generous donation already received, we have many picture and early readers' chapter books, as well as some for young adult/teen readers. We are currently focusing on getting books in languages other than English (Spanish especially) for all reading levels, but will also gladly accept all gently used books you'd be willing to donate from home.
In addition to books, we are requesting any other small items or non-perishable individual snacks that could be made into "care packages" for kids to take in addition to a book of their choosing.
